The Award Winning J. Frank Dobie Lariaettes are known for their innovative style of dance. They have become a well-rounded dance team that not only performs at football games and other school events, but compete at dance competitions earning many awards. Throughout the year the team learns self-discipline, respect, confidence, poise and the hard work necessary to produce quality performances. They participate in numerous community events yearly, as well as host multiple dance clinics for future Lariaettes.

The year culminates in May with the annual Spring Show. Competition Routines and New Choreography performed by the Lariaettes are the highlights of the show. Dance training classes and Lassos also perform, along with other school organizations and our intermediate schools.

The Lariaettes enjoy many social events throughout the year that give the team a chance to bond. We start out the year with events such as Lariaette Night Out, Pool Party, and Installation Dinner. Throughout the year, we have multiple holiday parties, potluck lunches and an end of the year banquet. To close out the year, we put on a Setting Sail Party to say goodbye to the seniors and welcome the newbies!

To become a Lariaette, you must have completed a Dance training class or Lassos in addition to trying out for the team in the Spring. You must also get the required number of merits, have a good disciplinary and attendance record and attend the required parent meeting prior to tryouts. See your counselor if you are interested in taking a dance class.  Dance 1-Dance 4 is offered every year.

Young men can also support the team by joining our Lariaette Security. Security is an essential part of the Lariaettes by providing support at numerous team activities. Announcements will be made each spring, and applications can be picked up in the dance room at that time.

The Lassos are a freshman only JV Dance Team here at J. Frank Dobie HS. The main role of the Lassos is to serve as a preparatory program for the Lariaettes. Throughout the year the Lassos work on basic dance technique as well as learn choreography.  They also have the opportunity to perform at various events throughout the school year.
